Run for unity marathons held in J&K on Patel's birth anniv

Calling the people of Jammu and Kashmir to work for the integrity of India, Union Minister Jitendra Singh today flagged off run for unity on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's 139th birth anniversary, being celebrated as "Rashtriya Ekta Diwas".

Recalling the mantra of "Ek Bharat: Shresth Bharat" on the occasion, Singh said, "We should all work towards creating 'Foremost India'."

Singh led the run for unity marathon from Indian Institute of Integrated Medicine (IIIM) here where hundreds of students, scientists, political leaders and common people participated in it.

The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha organized a marathon to pay homage to the 'Iron Man of India'. Besides party activists, hundreds of students from various schools, NSS, NCC and people from all walks of life participated in the event.
 

State BJP Chief and MP Jugal Kishore Sharma flagged off the marathon in the presence of Leader of Legislative Party Ashok Khajuria and State General Secretary Ashok Koul.

Addressing the gathering, Sharma said, "People should be united to safeguard the integrity of this diverse nation."

A mega run was also flagged off by the IG BSF Rakesh Sharma at BSF headquarters here.Several schools and colleges too held run for unity in Jammu to celebrate Patel's birth anniversary.
