A satellite phone was seized from an Italian tourist, bound for the temple city of Madurai, at the airport here today, police said.
77-year old Andreaa, booked on a domestic flight, was found in possession of the satellite phone during security screening by the CISF personnel, they said tonight.
The tourist was being questioned by the authorities over the issue, they said.

The Italian was part of a larger group of tourists who had arrived here on December 30.
Possession of satellite phone by foreign nationals is highly regulated and allowed subject to strict norms.
The possession of the device must be declared on arrival in the country in the stipulated form and manner to Customs authorities, police said.
