SC to hear Swamy's plea on criminal defamation

Jayalalithaa had filed five defamation complaints against Swamy for allegedly posting defamatory comments on social networking sites

The Supreme Court today agreed to hear a plea filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy seking quashing of criminal defamation cases filed by AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa against him for his statements against her.

A bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu, before whom the case was mentioned by Swamy, said that matter has been entrusted to another bench which will hear it tomorrow.

Swamy also challenged the IPC provision relating to criminal defamation.

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has filed five defamation complaints against Swamy for allegedly posting defamatory comments on social networking sites.
