A consumer forum here has asked a private school to pay a compensation of Rs 20,000 to a parent for its alleged deficiency and manipulating accounts to grab money.

West Delhi Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, presided by Bimla Makin, asked Rama Krishna Senior Secondary School to pay the amount to Sushma Budhiraja as compensation for the mental torture, inconvenience and hardship suffered by her.

Budhiraja had in her plea sought refund of the money paid to the school towards tuition fee and other related services for her two children after she withdrew them from the school but the institution refused it.

"There was deficiency in service on the one hand and on the other hand there is a clear manipulation of accounts to grab the hard-earned money of poor people who approach this school for seeking admission," the forum said, noting the school issued the receipt ten days after receiving the fees.

It also directed the school to refund the amount after deducting admission charges and tuition fees for one month from the money paid by her.

The forum noted that both the children stopped attending the school in April, the same month they joined it, but due to the attitude of the receptionist, who stopped Budhiraja from meeting the principal again and again, the issue related to leaving the school was not resolved.
