Section officer falls off Mantralaya building, dies

A 59-year-old school education department officer today died allegedly after falling from Mantralaya building in Naya Raipur - the upcoming capital of Chhattisgarh, police said.

The incident took place this afternoon at Mantralaya (secretariat) 'Mahanadi Bhawan' under the Rakhi police station limits, a local police official told PTI.

The deceased was identified as Banwarilal Katare, a section officer with the school education department, he said.

Katare was found with serious head and chest injuries on the ramp of ground floor. He was rushed to the B R Ambedkar Memorial Hospital here where he was declared dead on arrival, he said.
 

"The body was sent for autopsy. Whether it was a case of accident or suicide can be known only after the investigation is completed," the officer said.

However, prima facie it seems he fell off the third floor, where his office is located, of the building, he added.
