Security guard trampled to death

A security guard at the shooting range in Indian Navy in Madukkarai, on the outskirts, was trampled to death by a stray elephant today.

The 55-year old guard Subbaiah had gone to answer nature's call around 5.30 AM when he noticed an elephant standing in front of him.

Though he tried to escape, the elephant trampled him to death, police said.

Another guard on the premises alerted some officials, who rushed to the spot. The elephant returned to jungles later, they said.
