Select base metals extend weakness on sluggish demand

Zinc and lead prices fell further by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous metals market today due to sluggish demand from consuming industries.

Traders said sluggish demand from consuming industries and a reports of a weakening global trend mainly weighted on select base metal prices.

In the national capital, Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported slipped by Rs 2 each to Rs 111-117, Rs 107 and Rs 105 per kg respectively. Copper mixed scrap and nickel (4x4) also traded lower by the same margin to Rs 428 and Rs 1,084-1,090 per kg respectively.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):
 

Zinc ingot 111-117, Nickel plate (4x4) 1,084-1,090, Gun metal scrap 227, Bell metal scrap 229, Copper mixed scrap 428, Chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 107, Lead imported 105, Aluminium ingots 159, Aluminium sheet cutting 160, Aluminium wire scrap 162 and Aluminium utensils scrap 159.
