Select base metals strengthen on rising demand, global cues

Select base metal prices strengthened by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today on the back of rising demand from consuming industries amid firm trend overseas.

Traders said besides surging demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market, a firm trend overseas, mainly kept select base metal prices higher.

Globally, copper for delivery in three months ended 0.9 per cent to USD 5,875 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange in yesterday's trade.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel plate (4x4) advanced by Rs 2 each to Rs 344 and Rs 782-792 per kg respectively.
 

Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported were also enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 100-106, Rs 90 and Rs 96 per kg, respectively.

Following are today's metals' rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 100-106, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 782-792, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 344, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 90, lead imported Rs 96, aluminium ingots Rs 154, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 150, aluminium wire scrap Rs 150 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 148.
