Select copra firm up on sustained demand

Copra office Kozhikode and copra Rajapur Mumbai firmed up at the spices market here today on sustained demand from stockists and retailers amid good export offtake.

Meanwhile, rest of the spices ruled stable in the absence of any largescale buying.

Copra office Kozhikhode climbed by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 11,700 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 11,500 and Copra Rajapur Mumbai surged by Rs 500 per quintal to Rs 23,500 as against Rs 23,000 previously.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs) with previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 765/815 (765/815), ginger bleached (per kg) 320 (320), ginger unbleached (per kg) 340 (340), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 11,800 (11,800), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 11,700 (11,500), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 23,500 (23,000), Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 14,000 (14,000).
