Select copra spurts on good demand amid supply pressure

Prices of copra edible and corpa Rajapur rose sharply at the spices market here today due to renewed buying from stockists and exporters coupled with shortfall in supplies from growing regions.

Meanwhile, black pepper, ginger, copra Alapuzha and copra Kozhikode closed their overnight levels in the absence of necessary buying support.

Copra edible Mumbai surged by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 9,000 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 8,800 and copra Rajapur Mumbai climbed by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 9,500 as compared with Rs 9,400 previously.

Black pepper (per kg) 530/575 (530/575), ginger bleached (per kg) 205 (205), ginger unbleached (per kg) 215 (215), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 8,100 (8,100), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 8,000 (8,000), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 9,500 (9,400), Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 9,000 (8,800).
