To celebrate the centenary year of Dakshineswar Ramkrishna Sangha Adyapeath and the 94th Siddhotsava year of its founder Annada Thakur, a seminar on "Universal brotherhood and harmony of all religions" was held at the Adyapeath temple at Dakshineswar here today.
Around 5000 pieces of cloth and 3000 blankets were distributed among the poor besides Narayan Seva (feeding them) to mark the occasion.
West Bengal Legislative Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee, former Justice Shyamal Sen, Minister for Correctional administration Haider Aziz Safwi were present at the ceremony.
It was exactly 100 years ago in 1915, Annada Thakur then known as Annada Charan Bhattacharya under the instruction of Paramhansa Sri Ramakrishna found an idol of the Goddess Kali at the bottom of a pond at the city's British-built Eden Gardens.
