Seven persons were injured today when the private taxi they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district.
The incident took place when the vehicle was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu. It rolled down a 30-feet gorge near Nashri area injuring seven persons, a police spokesman said.
He said that soon after the mishap the driver of the vehicle fled from the spot.
All the seven injured were rescued by the police with the help of local people and admitted to hospital, he said, adding a case has been registered and investigation is on.
