Shaina NC bats for Women's Reservation Bill

Once the Women's Reservation Bill is cleared in Parliament, it will not only empower women but also be a "threat" to male politicians who do not perform, BJP leader Shaina NC said here today.

The fashion designer-turned politician said, "it would be a threat to male politicians who do not perform.

The BJP national spokesperson was replying to a question on the long-pending Women's Reservation Bill that would set aside 33 per cent of seats in Parliament and state Assemblies.

During an interactive session with FICCI Ladies Organisation here, she said woman representation in legislatures and Parliament remained very low.
 

The national average of women legislators in state Assemblies is just 9 per cent while In the Lok Sabha, it is 12 per cent.

Shaina and playback singer Alka Yagnik both regard family support system as an enabler for women pursuing career goals.
