Shakkar falls in Delhi, Khurpa in Muzaffarnagar

In an otherwise steady gur (Jaggery) market, prices of shakkar dropped by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on huge ready stocks following increased arrivals against subdued demand.

A similar trend also prevailed at Muzaffarnagar, where prices of Khurpa slipped by Rs 100 per quintal.

Marketmen said besides subdued demand, heavy position of new gur stocks in markets, mainly pulled down shakkar in Delhi and Khurpa prices in Muzaffarnagar.

In Delhi, Shakkar prices enquired lower by Rs 100 to finish at Rs 2,800-2,900 per quintal.

In Muzaffarnagar, gur Khurpa prices declined to Rs 2,125-2,200 instead of Rs.2,200-2,300 per quintal.
 

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,500-2,600, pedi Rs 2,500-2,600, dhayya Rs 2,700-2,800 and shakkar Rs 2,800-2,900.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,400-2,500, chakku Rs 2,200-2,450, khurpa Rs 2,125-2,200 and Ladoo Rs 2,200-2,350.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,200-2,275 and dhayya Rs 2,250-2,300.
