The five-day visit of the ruler of Sharjah Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammed Al Qasimi to Kerala will strengthen the ties between India and UAE in general and particularly with the state, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said here today.
Vijayan said this during a meeting with UAE ambassador in India, Ahmed Al Banna to discuss the forthcoming visit of Al Qasimi.
Al Qasimi, also the member of Federal Supreme Council of UAE, was scheduled to arrive here on September 24 and would attend various functions till he returns to Sharjah on September 28.

Al Qasimi would attend different functions in the state capital on September 25 and 26, and later participate in programmes in Kochi on September 27.
Al Qasimi who will return to the state capital on September 27 evening, would leave for Sharjah on September 28.
There are about 30 lakh Indians in UAE and majority of them are from Kerala, Vijayan noted.
The trade ties of India with Arab countries starts from Kerala, Vijayan pointed out.
Opening UAE consulate was a part of that countries closeness with Kerala, Ambassador Ahmed Al Banna said.
