Shops gutted, garments, goods destroyed in fire

At least 15 shops were getted and garments and other goods destoyed in a major fire that broke out today at the busy S M Street here but no casualties were reportedpolice said.

Seven fire tenders from the city and nearby areas fought for more than three hours to bring the fire under control which started around 11.00 a m from a three storeyed textile shop.

The reason for the fire was not known immediately, they said.

A huge fire in 2007 in the S M Street, had claimed eight lives and destroyed nearly 50 shops.
