A police Sub Inspector has died in a
road accident near here, police today said.
Faqrudeen (55), SI Narcotic Wing Police at Salem, was visiting his native Erode district and when he was returning home after prayers at the mosque on January one, a motorcycle driven by a 24-year-old youth collided with his two-wheeler.
Both were injured.
The SI sustained severe head injuries and was admitted to the Government Headquarters hospital here from where he was referred to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital where he succumbed yesterday, police said.
His body was buried with police honours at Erode today.
The injured youth is undergoing treatment for his leg fracture.
A case has been registered.
