Solatium handed over to injured Delhi commando

Sandeep Kumar, a commando with the Delhi Police, who suffered serious injuries while participating in a police championship here, was today handed over a cheque of Rs five lakh from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

Special representative of Tamil Nadu government in Delhi S T K Jakkaiyyan handed over the cheque to the injured commando at a private hospital in Gurgaon, where he is presently being treated, an official release said.

Principal Resident Commissioner Jasbir Singh Bajaj was also present.

Sandeep (23), belonging to Delhi commando unit, sustained serious injuries to his feet and leg when munition exploded when he was participating in the All India Commando Police Championship on January 23 here.
 

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had earlier ordered financial assistance of Rs five lakh for the Delhi police commando.
