Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday inaugurated the state's first-ever CNG fuelling station at Dibrugarh.

The state government is preparing a roadmap for setting up CNG fuelling station in all districts to make the state free from air pollution and to promote the use of clean and green fuel, the chief minister said.

Vehicular emissions take a toll on the health of the people and so the state government is working sincerely to promote the use of compressed natural gas in the state, he said.

"As a positive response to the Prime Minister's request to use CNG fuel, the first ever CNG fuelling station of the state has been set up and inaugurated in Dibrugarh. The journey has just started which will transform into state-wide movement", Sonowal said.

With the use of CNG, every citizen can contribute to a pollution free environment for the future generation of the state.

The chief minister stressed on the need for generating awareness among the owners, drivers and common people for the extensive use of CNG.

Union Minister of State for Food Processing Rameswar Teli and state Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary were also present on the occasion.
