Sony Six wins rights for Euro, World Cup qualifiers

Sports channel Sony Six has won the exclusive broadcasting rights for the European qualifiers to UEFA Euro 2016 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup across the Indian sub-continent.

As part of the deal the channel would broadcast 546 international matches in total, over three years, starting with the Euro qualifiers from September 2014 to November 2015 with 10 matches of each national team across 12 match weeks, said the company in a release today.

In addition to this, the channel would also broadcast the 2018 FIFA World Cup (European) qualifiers from September 2016 to November 2017, it added.

"These are exciting times for all sports fans and we are delighted to bring such world class sporting events to their homes," said Manjit Singh, CEO, MSM (Multi Screen Media) India, which owns the channel.
