Supported by strong domestic demand and tight supplies from growing regions, turmeric prices climbed 3.54 per cent to Rs 7,610 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators widened positions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in August jumped up by Rs 260, or 3.54 per cent, to Rs 7,610 per quintal with an open interest of 250 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in September was trading up by Rs 200, or 2.59 per cent, to Rs 7,910 per quintal in 25,920 lots.

Analysts said speculators enlarged positions on the back of strong domestic demand at the spot market, pushing up turmeric prices at futures trade.
