A 20-year-old youth today
allegedly killed a 18-year-old girl in suburban Vakola after she rejected his marriage proposal, police said.
"Ayesha Sheikh and Ambadas More were neighbours. They knew each other for the past one year," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone VIII Virendra Mishra.
This evening, More allegedly slit Ayesha's throat using a sharp-edged weapon after she turned down his offer, police said.
However, police did not immediately give details about when the proposal was rejected.
A case under section 302 (punishment for murder) of IPC was registered and More was apprehended, they said, adding a probe was on.
