SSI, head constable suspended

A Special Sub-Inspector and a head constable have been suspended after an undertrial in their custody escaped while being taken to court for a hearing.

Police said the undertrial, a farmer, had entered into an altercation with a village officer recently. A case was registered and he was arrested.

He was being taken to a court in Orathanadu yesterday when he escaped. Following this, the SSI and Head constable were suspended for dereliction of duty, police said.
