DMK Treasurer M K Stalin today wound up his state-wide 'Namakku Name' campaign, launched to woo voters ahead of the ensuing Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu and claimed that it was a success.

Stalin had launched the five-month-long programme in September in a bid to reach out to people in all 234 Assembly segments and wound it up in T Nagar today.

He claimed that 'Namakku Name' (We for Ourselves) was a success, while pointing out at ruling AIADMK's criticism against the campaign to buttress his claim.

Speaking to reporters here at the end of the programme, he said that during the state-wide tour, people had wished for the ruling AIADMK to be unseated.

"People want this government to go," he said.

The DMK leader promised to withdraw defamation cases filed against media houses by the government if DMK came to power.

Earlier, Stalin met his father and DMK President M Karunanidhi, who greeted him on his "successful" completion of the programme.

In a tweet, Karunanidhi greeted his son, calling him 'Thalapathi' (Commander).

Stalin is addressed as 'Thalapathi' by his followers.
