Police today said they had busted a gang of burglars active in Hazaratbal and adjoining areas here for the past two years with the arrest of three persons and recovered stolen goods worth Rs 25 lakh.
"We have busted a gang of thieves by arresting three persons and recovered stolen goods worth Rs 25 lakh from them," Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, Amit Kumar told reporters here.
Ganderbal residents Mushtaq Ahmad Dar and Ghulam Ahmad Dar along with Ghulam Hassan of Eidgah locality in Srinagar were arrested by a Special Investigation Team formed last month to crack cases of burglary in Soura, Nigeen, Lal Bazar and Hazratbal areas, he said.

The gang was active for the past two years targeting a a number of houses and shops, Kumar said.
Fifteen cases of burglary in Hazratbal zone had been solved with the arrest of the trio, he said.
"The thieves revealed they used to recce target houses during day-time for a few days before striking," Kumar said.
The gang used to rent an accommodation close to the target house a month before committing the crime, the SSP said.
