Sugar maintains rising trend on robust demand

Sugar prices continued to rally at the Vashi wholesale market here today on consistent demand from stockists and retailers as well as good upcountry offtake.

Medium sugar (M-30) rose by Rs 29/46 per quintal to Rs 3,351/3,502 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 3,322/3,456.

Small Sugar (S-30) also firmed up by Rs 20 to Rs 3,226/ 3,352 as against Rs 3,206/3,352 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,351/3,502 (Rs 3,322/3,456).

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,226/3,352 (Rs 3,206/3,352).
