Sugar prices fall on supply pressure, subdued demand

Sugar prices drifted by Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today on supply pressure from mills against sluggish demand.

Marketmen attributed the fall in the sweetener prices to ample stocks following increased supplies from mills against low demand from bulk consumers.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices shed Rs 30 each to end at Rs 2,950-3,080 and Rs 2,940-3,070 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also eased by Rs 10 each to conclude at Rs 2,700-2,920 and Rs 2,690-2,910 per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar Nazibabad eased by Rs 20 at Rs 2,710, while Dhanora by Rs 10 at Rs 2,740 per quintal.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 2,950-3,080, S-30 Rs 2,940-3,070.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,700-2,920, S-30 Rs 2,690-2,910.
