Sugar prices spurted by up to Rs 130 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today due to revival of buying at lower levels by bulk consumers against pause in supplies.
Marketmen said emergence of buying by bulk consumers and retailers against check in supplies by millers helped sweetener prices to recover.
Besides, pick up in demand from retailers following beginning of new month too influenced sentiments, they added.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices jumped by Rs 125 each to end at Rs 2,400-2,550 and Rs 2,390-2,540 per quintal.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also settled higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,240-2,365 and Rs 2,230-2,355 per quintal.
In the millgate section, sugar Asmoli shot up by Rs 130 to Rs 2,370, while Kinnoni and Malakpur climbed up by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,365 and Rs 2,260 per quintal.
Prices of Mawana, Dhampur and Chandpur surged by Rs 80 each to Rs 2,310, Rs 2250 and Rs 2,250 per quintal.
Sugar Dorala, Dhanora, Simbholi and Bulandshaher also gained Rs 70 each to Rs 2,290, Rs 2,270, Rs 2,350, Rs 2,250 per quintal.
