Sugar prices gained Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale sugar market in the national capital today on pick-up in demand amid tight supplies from mills.
Marketmen said besides fall in supplies from mills, pick-up in demand from stockists and bulk consumers led to the rise in sweetener prices.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices were higher by Rs 10 each to settle at Rs 2,780-3,020 and Rs 2,770-3,000 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also rose by a similar margin to trade at Rs 2,730-2,880 and Rs 2,715-2,860 per quintal.
In the millgate section, sugar Budhana, Thanabhavan, Modinagar, Khatuli and Dhampur prices advanced by Rs 20 each to Rs 2,790, Rs 2,780, Rs 2,740, Rs 2,830 and Rs 2,740 per quintal.
Prices of Mawana and Dorala gained Rs 15 each to Rs 2,770 and Rs 2,760, while Kinnoni, Baghpat and Chandpur were up by Rs 10 each at Rs 2,880, Rs 2,760 and Rs 2,720 per quintal.
