Sugar prices up on fresh buying, tight arrivals

Sugar prices improved by up to Rs 40 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following fresh buying activity amid tight supplies.

Marketmen said restricted arrivals amid better offtake by stockists and bulk consumers mainly pushed up sweetener prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices were higher by Rs 40 each to settle at Rs 3,950-4,020 and Rs 3,940-4,010 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices too were up by Rs 20 each to end at Rs 3,640-3,725 and Rs 3,630-3,715 per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar Mawana, Kinnoni, Baghpat and Dhampur rose by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,695, Rs 3,725, Rs 3,670 and Rs 3,660 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 40.00-44.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,950-4,020, S-30 Rs 3,940-4,010.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,640-3,725, S-30 Rs 3,630-3,715.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,695, Kinnoni Rs 3,725, Asmoli Rs 3,715, Dorala Rs 3,680, Budhana Rs 3,680, Thanabhavan Rs 3,675, Dhanora Rs 3,710, Simbholi Rs 3,725 Khatuli Rs 3,700, Dhampur Rs 3,660, Ramala Rs 3,660, Anupshaher Rs 3,660, Baghpat Rs 3,670, Morna Rs 3,655, Sakoti Rs 3,660, Chandpur Rs 3,670, Nazibabad Rs 3,660 and Modinagar Rs 3,710.
