Sugar weakens on higher supply, weak demand

Sugar prices declined by Rs 40 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following constant arrivals amid muted demand.

Marketmen said besides increased supplies from mills, limited off-take by stockists and bulk consumers in view of approaching month-end mainly resulted fall in sweetener prices.

Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices dropped by Rs 40 each to end at Rs 3,680-3,810 and Rs 3,670-3,800 per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar Chandpur fell by Rs 40 to Rs 3,680, while Mawana, Dhanora, Khatuli, Dhampur and Sakoti slipped by Rs 30 each to Rs 3,710, Rs 3,720, Rs 3,760, Rs 3,680 and Rs 3,700 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 45.00-50.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 4,000-4,100, S-30 Rs 3,990-4,090.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,680-3,810, S-30 Rs 3,670-3,800.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,710, Kinnoni Rs 3,810, Asmoli Rs 3,780, Dorala Rs 3,720, Budhana Rs 3,720,Thanabhavan Rs 3,715, Dhanora Rs 3,720, Simbholi Rs 3,760, Khatuli Rs 3,760, Dhampur Rs 3,680, Ramala Rs 3,735, Anupshaher Rs 3,730, Baghpat Rs 3,750, Morna Rs 3,740, Sakoti Rs 3,700, Chandpur Rs 3,680, Nazibabad Rs 3,730 and Modinagar 3,700.
