Sugar weakens on reduced demand

Sugar prices weakened further at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to reduced demand from stockists and retailers amidst sustained selling pressure from mills.

Small sugar (S-30) fell by Rs 12/15 per quintal to Rs 2,420/2,551 from Monday's closing level of Rs 2,432/2,566.

Medium sugar (M-30) declined by Rs 17 per quintal to Rs 2,530/2,665 per quintal as against Rs 2,530/2,682 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,420/2,551 (Rs 2,432/2,566).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,530/2,665 (Rs 2,530/2,682).
