The Taliban attacked a government compound in the country's east by first setting off two truck bombs followed by an attack by gunmen, Afghan officials said.

At least 52 people both civilians and security forces were hurt in today's early morning attack. Most were injured by broken glass from windows shattered in the explosion, Asadullha Ensafi, the deputy police chief in the provincial capital of Ghazni said.

He also said that the target appeared to be the local office of domestic intelligence.

Ghazni Governor Musa Khan Akbarzada said that as many as 13 Taliban fighters had launched the attack. He said bodies of eight attackers were found after the gun-battle with the police.

Also, it wasn't immediately clear if any of the security forces or civilians had been killed.
