'The Simpsons' to kill off character in season 26

'The Simpsons' is going ahead with the plan to kill off a major character in its upcoming 26th season.

The show will bid farewell to a familiar face with "an emotional story" in the season opener set to air on September 28, reported Ace Showbiz.

The show bosses have not revealed the identity of the character but have said that the actor who voices this role has won any Emmy for it and the part has appeared in more than two episodes.
