Three dead, 10 injured in road accident in Shimla

At least three persons, including the brother of a Himachal Pradesh minister, were killed and 10 others injured in a road accident in Shimla district Wednesday, police said.

The accident took place in the evening near Chhaila Bazar when a Tempo Traveller, with 13 passengers who were to attend a marriage, was headed towards Rohru.

The reason behind the mishap was not immediately clear.

The deceased have been identified as Nitya Nand Bhardwaj -- the younger brother of state education minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Anil, and Kewal, Shimla Superintendent of Police Omapati Jamwal said, adding that all were residents of Kasumpti.

The vehicle (bearing registration number HP 01 A 5099) was on its way to Rohru from Kasumpti in Shimla when it met with the accident on a bridge near Chhaila Bazar at around 7.30 pm, police said.

 

The injured have been shifted to Theog Hospital, they said.
