The district police has arrested two women from the Mira Road area here for allegedly trying to push their 16-year-old sister into flesh trade.

Acting on a tip-off, a team laid a trap at a hotel near the Mira Road railway station last night and arrested the two women and a 61-year-old man, to whom they were planning to sell their sister for Rs 1.5 lakh, an official in the Thane police's anti-human trafficking cell said.

The teenage girl and another woman were rescued from the hotel, the official said.

Offences were registered against the three accused under relevant sections of the IPC, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, he added.
