The third convict 49-year-old Mercy Serroa, a resident of Mumbai, was held guilty of criminal conspiracy, causing hurt to the girl by giving her poison and wrongfully confining the victim for more than three days under IPC and for throwing her into prostitution under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
The court awarded 10 years jail to the man and seven years imprisonment each to the two women.
It said the prosecution has proved that in August 2007, Anwar, Sushma and Mercy had conspired with one other accused to abduct the girl from near her house here by giving her sedatives-laced juice with an intention to sell her to Mercy.
After abducting the girl, Anwar and Sushma took her to his uncle's residence in Shahjahanpur in UP where Anwar and his uncle, along with one other absconding accused, gangraped her repeatedly, the court noted.
Thereafter, they took her to Mumbai and sold her to Mercy for the purpose of prostitution. Mercy kept the victim confined in a house and used to beat her and also used to send the girl to several customers for the purpose of flesh trade, the court said.
