Three killed, four injured in cab-truck collision

Three persons including a three-year-old boy were today killed and four others critically injured when their cab collided head-on with a truck in Kupwara district of north Kashmir, police said.

A cab, on way to Srinagar, collided with a truck coming from opposite direction at Tutigund, 70 kms from here, on Srinagar-Kupwara national highway, resulting in injuries to all the eight passengers, a police spokesman said.

He said the injured were rushed to Handwara district hospital where two of them - Bashir Ahmad Mandoo (29) of Bemina locality of Srinagar and three-year-old Ayan Ahmad Khan of Zangli village of Kupwara - succumbed to injuries.
 

The rest of the injured were referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment but one of them, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir (28), also succumbed at Soura Medical institute, the spokesman said.

He said condition of one more injured person was stated to be "critical".

Police has registered a case and started investigations, the spokesman added.
