Three of family dead after two suicide attempts

Two children died after their mother allegedly fed them poison and later attempted suicide herself in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh, police said today.

The incident took place last night when Reddimalle Shyamala an employee of Medak municipality took the extreme step with her kids, due to financial problems, they said.

While Shyamala's 6-year-old son Nandishwar and 4-year-old daughter Spandana died, she survived the suicide attempt.

This morning the woman along with her mother again tried to end her life by jumping into a local water tank.

Shyamala's mother Rajamma (55) drowned but passers-by saved her following which she was admitted to a hospital in the district.
 

Police registered a case and all the three bodies were later sent for postmortem.
