As part of their agitation to remove the Registrar of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, the Trinamool Congress-backed joint platform of students, teachers, workers and officials staged a dharna at the gate today.
The agitators stopped students, teachers and workers to enter the BCKV campuses, research farms and at main campus at Nadia's Mohanpur today disrupting work, university officials said.
VC Dharani Dhar Patra said, "I told the Deans to take classes as much as possible in the prevailing situation."

The movement to remove the BCKV Registrar Shubhendu Goswami has been going on for last few couple if days. Goswami is a leader of WEBCUPA (TMC).
According to Mushier Ali, the Convenor of the joint platform 'Joutha Mancha', the VC has appointed a teacher as temporary Registrar on October 21, 2016 who had been removed from the post of Directorate of Firms in BCKV earlier due to his inability.
The VC in a written appeal to all concerned said, "The processes of recruitment to the post of Registrar and other posts is in progress and a Regular Registrar will be appointed as early as possible.
"I assure you that the meeting of Executive Council will be convened very soon."
However, Ali vowed to continue the movement.
