: Chief Minister O Panneerselvam today condoled the death of a soldier from Tamil Nadu in an avalanche in Jammu and Kashmir and announced a solatium of Rs 20 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased jawan.
Thirupandi, a native of A Bhuvanavasal village of Ramanathapuram District, a Naik in the Army, died in an avalanche in Jammu and Kashmir when he was on duty yestereday, the Chief Minister said.
In a statement, Panneerselvam said "the Tamil Nadu government conveys its deep condolences to the family of Naik Thirupandi." He said he has ordered immediate disbursal of Rs 20 lakh to the family of the deceased soldier.
