TN Guv, leaders extend Ugadi greetings

Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah, AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa and DMK President M Karunanidhi today extended their 'Ugadi' greetings.

The Telugu and Kannada New Year, 'Ugadi' is being celebrated tomorrow.

"Let us on the dawn of Manmadha Nama Ugadi resolve to make our nation self-sufficient, clean and green. May the birth of Manmadha Nama Ugadi usher in peace, prosperity and progress in all spheres," Rosaiah said in a Raj Bhavan statement.

He extended his greetings to Telugu and Kannada speaking people in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and other parts of the country and elswehere.

Jayalalithaa wished a prosperous year for the Telugu and Kannada speaking people, besides hailing the unity among such persons residing in the state with Tamil speaking population.
 

In his greetings, Karunanidhi recalled his previous governments' efforts to ensure cordial relations with neighbouring states, and said it was in line with this that a statue of Kannada poet Sarvajna was installed here during his party led government while a statue of Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar was inaugurated in Bangalore.
