The Federation of Tamil Nadu Traders Associations today vowed to fight against threats faced by retail and small traders in the state due to trade agreements.
The president of the 'Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sankankalin Peravai' T.Vellaiyan, addressing the 32nd state level conference of the Federation here, said "a strategy will be worked to protect the small traders."
"We have won several battles on Anti-traders taxes.Now we are facing serious and tough challenges which included foreign investment in retail trading, online business,website trade, among others," he said at the conference on the theme "Protection of Local Industry and Business."

He said the central and state governments should not support the world trade organisations and agreements.
On August 15, the federation would hold a rally from Kanyakumari to Chennai "condemning foreign investment and world trade agreements, and burn copies of such agreement in front of respective foreign counsular offices,he said.
