Actor Tom Welling is returning to the DC Universe with third season of "Lucifer".
The actor, who starred on Smallville as Clark Kent/ Superman for 10 years, plays Marcus Pierce, an accomplished police lieutenant who is everything Lucifer is not - strategic, reserved and well-respected, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The role not only brings Welling back to the small screen for the first time in six years, but also brings him back to Warner Bros TV, which produced "Smallville" and also produces "Lucifer".
Lucifer's main character is based on a DC comics character. Created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg in "The Sandman" series, Lucifer eventually was spun off into its own comic book series by Mike Carey.
