Traffic constable run over and killed by truck

A traffic constable posted at Shyambazar crossing in North Kolkata was run over and killed in a road accident in North 24-Parganas today, a police official said.

Constable Paresh Kumar Mullick (30) was returning to his home in Barrackpore after duty hours on his motrocycle when he was hit by a speeding truck near Panihati, DCDD Barrackpore Police Commissionerate A K Thakur said.

Mullick who was run over by the truck died on the spot, Thakur said.

The truck has been impounded and the truck driver arrested, he added.
