To encourage usage of subways and foot-over-bridges by people in the city, Delhi Traffic Police has struck upon a novel idea -- lucky draw scheme.

As a part of the initiative, launched recently, traffic police personnel have been deployed at subways situated at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Outer Circle Connaught Place, AIIMS Ring Road and Dabari Mor and foot-over-bridges at ISBT Kashmiri Gate and Ambedkar College Wazirabad Road.

"The traffic police personnel will remain present at these locations and get lucky draw forms filled up from the subway and FOB users. Lucky draw will be held after a week," a senior official said.

"The idea is to encourage people to use subway and FOBs while crossing roads, in the interest of their safety and smooth flow of traffic," he added.

People have responded enthusiastically to the scheme and more than 4,000 forms were filled up in the week. The first draw of lot was conducted on May, 28 at the Police Headquarters.
