Turmeric prices were down 1.97 per cent to Rs 8,266 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions due to pick up in arrivals in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in April month eased by Rs 166, or 1.97 per cent to Rs 8,266 per quintal with an open interest of 28,030 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in May contracts traded lower by Rs 164 or 1.93 per cent to Rs 8,340 per quintal in 20,325 lots.
Market analysts said offloading of positions by traders, triggered by low demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position, mainly kept pressure on turmeric prices at futures trade.
