Turmeric prices fell further by 1.11 per cent to terminate at Rs 7,294 per quintal in futures trade today as traders engaged in reducing their positions, tracking a weak trend at spot market on fall in demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in far-month October fell by Rs 82, or 1.11 per cent to close at Rs 7,294 per quintal with an open interest of 11,855 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in September contracts shed Rs 16, or 0.22 per cent, to end at Rs 7,380 per quintal in 19,365 lots.
Analysts said trimming of positions by participants, driven by easing domestic and export demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position, mainly kept turmeric prices lower at futures trade.
