Supported by rising demand in the spot market, turmeric prices moved up by 0.93 per cent to Rs 6,484 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in June gained Rs 60, or 0.93 per cent, to Rs 6,484 per quintal with an open interest of 12,490 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in July traded higher by Rs 56, or 0.85 per cent, to Rs 6,642 per quintal in 2,465 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators, driven by rising demand in the spot market mainly influenced turmeric prices at futures trade.
