A tusker died of electrocution after it came into contact with high tension electric wire at Badjod village near here, officials said today.
The animal had wandered away from Similipal sanctuary yesterday when it came into contact with high tension electric wire, Baripada Divisional Forest officer Sanjay Swain said.
The elephant was laid to rest after autopsy, Swain said, adding that an inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the incident.
